September 15, 2014 – Springfield, MO: Harmony House, Missouri’s first domestic violence shelter and Greene County’s only domestic violence shelter, is pleased to announce the appointment of its’ three newest members to the Board of Directors. Board members are elected to serve a three-year term and participation on the Harmony House Board of Director’s is voluntary with board members receiving no compensation.
Board members most recently elected to serve a three-year term include:
- Amanda Kastler is a CPA with Elliott Robinson & Co. Amanda was recently named as one of SBJ’s most influential women in Springfield for 2014. Amanda joined the board in March, 2014.
- Brooke Meier is a CPA with Tucker & Company and joined the board in July, 2014.
- Byron Pierce is a Vice President with Commerce Bank and joined the board in August, 2014.
Harmony House has seen steady increases over the last five years in the numbers of people seeking services. Greene County, MO has the highest rate of domestic violence in the state and domestic violence has been named a “red flag” issue in the recent Springfield and Greene County Community Focus Report. Last year Harmony House sheltered 560 women and children, however, another 1,600 were turned away due to lack of space.
