Harmony House announced today that Kirstyn Walker has been selected as the new Executive Director. Walker joined the Harmony House team in July of 2025 as the Assistant Executive Director, and the selection comes from a board search committee to hire the next Executive Director, following Jared Alexander’s departure. Kirstyn Walker is an experienced non-profit professional with a background in victim services and trauma-informed practices. She is a Missouri State alum with a master’s degree in social work, and a passion for caring for the caregiver. “While in school, I knew while I hold the utmost respect for those working in direct client care, my passion was for building systems and structures that support their work. Well cared for helping professionals create better outcomes for clients and staff alike.”
Kirstyn’s previous experience includes serving as Director of Education at a rape crisis center, Assistant Director of Clinical Education at Burrell Behavioral Health, and Assistant Executive Director at Harmony House.
“Over the last year at Harmony House, I’ve supported all direct service, prevention, outreach, and grants teams. My time here has felt like the perfect opportunity to care for helping professionals by helping create trauma-informed systems and solutions,” noted Walker.
Kirstyn sits on the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Public Policy Committee, as well as the Professional Leadership and Advancement 2026 Cohort, a part of Futures Without Violence. Harmony House is Missouri’s largest and longest standing domestic violence shelter, with robust comprehensive free services for survivors, carried out daily by nearly 60 dedicated team members. 2026 marks five decades of Harmony House providing hope in the community, as they honor this milestone 50th anniversary year.
On her recent promotion, Walker noted, “The work Harmony House does to serve survivors of domestic violence impacts our community in such a meaningful way, and I am beyond honored to be entrusted to lead this organization.”
