- Where did you grow up? I grew up in Billings, Montana
- How did you get connected with Harmony House? Why is their mission important to you? I was introduced to Harmony House through my very good friend, Shannon Handwerker. When she told me of her personal story with HH back when she was a young adult, it brought tears to my eyes. It also brought me to believe this was an awesome organization, that saved her life! I also have seen first-hand the effects of domestic abuse from friends, and know what impact it had on their lives. It tends to continue to cycle, and so hard for a victim to walk out of those situations. In the mission for HH, I strongly support the education and awareness that domestic violence is a problem in our area. The I Care campaign is a perfect example of that. This is a topic that is uncomfortable for many to talk about, yet it is happening every day to “normal” women and men in our community.
- What pictures did you have up on the walls of your bedroom as a teenager? Or what was your favorite band as a teenager? Back in my teenage years, I had posters of Peter from The Brady Bunch on my walls. I had a crush on him and was a member of his “fan club”. I thought that was a cool deal! LOL! I love music, some of my favorites included Journey, REO Speedwagon, and Styx in High School.
- What is the most profound lesson you have learned? The most profound lesson I have learned . . . Cherish your yesterdays, dream your tomorrows and live your today’s.
- What do you like to do in Springfield with your free time? In my free time I love to get on my road bike and RIDE! To be able to go out on the roads of the Ozarks, take in all the beauty, leave my worries behind, and be grateful for the things I have, being on my bike riding with my husband and friends is the perfect way to spend a day!
- When you were a child, what did you want to grow up to be? When I was a child I wanted to be a professional dancer. That was the era of the TV program, Solid Gold. I would watch it and then go to my basement and listen to music and make up dance routines. I even did a report in 7th grade on what it would take to become a professional dancer. What fun dreams those where!
- Do you have a role model? If so, who? My role model has always been my mother! She was my rock, my mentor, and my best friend! She passed 11 years ago, but growing up I always wanted to be just like her. She was a beautiful woman, very successful real estate agent, the hardest working woman I knew, and a great mother. She taught me all I know and helped mold me to the woman I am today.
- Something you’ll always find in my refrigerator? I would love to say champagne is always in my refrigerator, but in reality it is water!
- What is the most random thing in your purse right now? There really is not anything random in my purse right now. I am a very organized individual and minimalist as far as handbags go. I only have the bare necessities in my handbag.
- If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? If I could do one thing for a day it would be to sit on a beach with my husband, drinking a cold beverage, watching the waves roll in!
- Name one song you would sing at Karaoke night. My karaoke song is Piano Man, by Billy Joel. It is a great crowd participator, which is what I need, as I was not blessed with a good voice.
- What was the last thing you recorded on TV? I am not technical savvy, and never figured out Tevo or DVR, so I have never have recorded a show on TV.
- If you could share a meal with any 2 individuals, living or dead, who would they be? f I could share a meal with 2 individuals who would it be? The first, by far is my mother whom I lost to cancer 11 years ago! The second would have to be my “man crush” and that is Matthew McConaughey.
- Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous? My famous relative is my Dad, Marty Howe. He played hockey for the Vancouver Canukes, and then went on to play for the USA hockey team for 2 years. I do have to say my Mom was a little bit famous as well, she was Miss Colorado in 1959.
- Your most favorite 80’s band? My favorite 80’s band is Journey
- Favorite 80’s trend you wish would come back? My favorite 80’s trend that I wish would come back is the “Flash dance” crave.
- My favorite thing about Harmony House: My favorite thing about Harmony House is the wonderful housing that is provided to victims. In the event of a crisis, the fact that women and their children have a safe place to go is an awesome thing! To know they are safe, with clean clothes, and food on the table is very reassuring. I also love that the women then get education to help them in the future to not go back into another crisis situation.
